At Blankson’s, giving back is at the heart of everything we do. We believe in using our platform to drive positive change and empower communities locally and globally. Volunteering is a cornerstone of who we are. Both of our directors have dedicated nearly 12 years of service as Hampshire school governors, championing education and shaping brighter futures for local students.

Our work is deeply aligned with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), driving impact through education, equality, and sustainability.

Volunteer Hours Given (2024)

The Blankson ICT Centre, Ghana

Ensuring that underserved youth have access to life-changing opportunities is at the heart of what we do. By investing in digital learning resources, we empower young people with the tools they need to thrive in an ever-evolving world.

In 2021, we visited a village school in dire need of support. The library, which doubled as an ICT centre, was non-functional, equipped with outdated CRT computers that had long since fallen into disrepair. Recognising the urgent need, we committed to making a difference.

Just a year later, in partnership with our local charity, the Foro Dua-Pa Foundation, and with the support of Eguana Ebusua of Kormantse, we proudly established a fully functional 36-seater ICT centre at Kormantse Methodist School. This state-of-the-art facility now serves over 5,000 students in the village, giving them access to vital digital tools and resources they never had before.

Through this initiative, we’re not just providing access to technology—we’re opening doors to opportunities, empowering a generation, and paving the way for brighter futures.

Supporting QUALITY EDUCATION

After

Since its opening, we’ve witnessed remarkable progress. Girls are embracing new learning opportunities, and students are showing improved skills and better exam results. However, the demand for learning hours and resources continues to grow, and we know there is much more we can do to unlock their full potential.

In the coming year, we aim to take the next step in this journey. Our goal is to provide laptops to a cohort of promising students and design specialised courses in collaboration with local STEM agencies and international partners. These initiatives will create pathways to success, equipping students with the tools and skills needed to thrive in a technology-driven world.

To achieve this, we plan to broker partnerships with organisations willing to donate working, used laptops to support this initiative. With additional resources and innovative learning opportunities, we can make a lasting impact.

As we look to the future, we are committed to tracking and sharing quantifiable data to measure progress and demonstrate the value of this initiative. Together, we can continue to empower young minds and transform the educational landscape in Kormantse.

Gender Equality

Our director, Effie Blankson, is deeply committed to tackling violence against women and girls. As a White Ribbon Champion, she leads awareness campaigns and advocates for safer, more equitable spaces for women globally. Her work in this area embodies our dedication to fostering a culture of respect, safety, and empowerment. In 2024 we have actively supported women to make thea bold step for their safety.

At Blankson’s, every garment we handle and every service we deliver represents a step toward creating a more just and equitable world. Your partnership helps us make a difference.

ONE INITIATIVE AT A TIME.

Reduced Inequalties

We are dedicated to breaking down barriers and creating a fairer society. Through initiatives and collaborations that tackle economic disparities, better health, promote social mobility, and celebrate diversity, we strive to ensure no one is left behind in the pursuit of progress.

Celebrating Diversity Through Kikoi Connection

We actively raise awareness and funds to support life-saving cancer research. From placing Cancer Research UK collection boxes at our shop counters to participating in Race for Life events, we take action.

Effie Blankson, one of our directors, is a passionate Cancer Research UK Campaigns Ambassador and fundraiser. This mission holds deep personal significance to Blankson’s, having experienced the profound loss of our manager to lung cancer in 2023 and Effie herself having lost both her stepmother and sister to breast and colorectal cancer.

Co-founded by our directors, Basingstoke Unites Against Racism (BUAR) is dedicated to bridging gaps between young people, the BAME community, and the police. BUAR delivers workshops in secondary schools and colleges focused on stop-and-search powers, helping young people understand their rights while fostering trust with law enforcement.

This initiative, recognised as best practice by the College of Policing and widely covered by the BBC, is essential for building cohesion and creating a stronger, more inclusive Basingstoke.

Kikoi Connection is a platform through which our directors promote diversity, inclusion, and equity. They lead initiatives that celebrate Black history, culture, and heritage, particularly during Black History Month (BHM). Through Kikoi Connection, they address systemic inequalities, advocate for social mobility, and foster a greater understanding of diverse experiences.

Their work has gained recognition for its significant contributions to education, health, and cultural empowerment within the community.
